Lose Fat And Gain Muscle …

Often those who need to lose body fat try to build muscle at the same time. This is not the way to do it! By trying to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time, you are essentially setting yourself up for failure, because you are attempting the near impossible.

You see, in order to lose fat, you must cut back on the number of calories that you consume. However, to gain muscle, you typically increase the number of calories that you consume, and work to turn that energy into muscle, instead of fat. As you can see, consuming fewer calories, while consuming more calories to turn to muscle, is pretty much impossible.

However, you can work to lose fat by consuming fewer calories, and also work to build muscle with workouts at the same time. The difference is that you cannot consume more calories to build that muscle, which in turn makes the building of the muscle much slower.

The way to look at this, however, is that you can build muscle while losing fat, and then concentrate on building muscle to a greater degree once you've gotten rid of the body fat. The ideal method is to lose fat while preserving muscle, however. You don't want to lose the muscle that you have while losing fat, and this can happen if you aren't careful.

The way to prevent this is to eat right and exercise. Muscles need protein to be maintained, so make sure that in your fat loss diet, you are not forgoing the protein. You can workout in a way that builds muscle, because you will be burning calories as well, however, you can't use the scale to measure your fat loss. When you build muscle, you gain weight.

Another option is to lose the fat with the good diet and with fat-burning exercises, such as aerobic type exercises. These include walking, running, aerobic classes, and bicycling.
